The Roamly Rental Shield (RRS) is a supplemental protection product, offered to your renters, that covers physical damage to the rented vehicle during the rental period.
Important Note: The Roamly Rental Shield is not an insurance policy. It works in tandem with a renter’s existing liability requirements. It does not provide coverage for damage to other vehicles or people (third-party liability).
Please be advised that Roamly Rental Shield covers physical damage to the vehicle only. It is your responsibility as the host to verify that your guest maintains active personal liability insurance. In the event of an accident where the guest lacks adequate liability coverage, financial responsibility for third-party claims may fall to you as the vehicle owner. We strongly recommend confirming these details with your guest prior to every booking.
Eligibility and Requirements
To qualify for the Roamly Rental Shield, the following criteria must be met:
- Rental Vehicle Value: The vehicle must have a current Actual Cash Value (ACV) of $50,000 or less.
- Trip Duration: Maximum trip length of 45 days.
- Renter Age: Renters must be at least 21 years of age or older.

Pricing
The daily cost for the Roamly Rental Shield is:
- Standard Rate: $10.50 per day (most states).
- Hawaii Rate: $13.33 per day.
This can be added to a booking during checkout by the renter for applicable vehicles.
Note: this is charged on a per CALENDAR DAY basis. So a “one day” rental will be charged for 2 days of rental shield coverage.
Managing Bookings with Rental Shield
Adding to a Booking
The Roamly Rental Shield must be added to a booking at least 24 hours prior to the start date. It cannot be added to same-day bookings.
Extensions and Swaps

Extensions: Bookings with RRS attached cannot be extended. To extend a trip, the current booking must be closed and a new booking must be created with a start date +1 day.
- Example: If a trip is set to end on April 3rd and the renter wants to extend. A new booking with the RRS should be created no later than April 2nd.
- Vehicle Swaps: If you need to swap a vehicle please contact our support to assist. We will be able to swap to another vehicle that meets the RRS criteria (Auto under $50k ACV).
For Hosts: How to Enable
The Roamly Rental Shield is enabled as a global setting via the Premium Services tab in your Wheelbase dashboard.

Global Setting: Once enabled, it will automatically apply to all vehicles in your fleet that meet the eligibility requirements.
- Individual Vehicles: At this time, RRS cannot be toggled off for individual vehicles. You will be able to see that it is "active" on the "Insurance & Roadside" tab of vehicles it's available for.
Filing a Claim
In the event of damage during a rental:
- Navigate to the booking in Wheelbase.
- Click the "File a Claim" button.
- Claims for the Roamly Rental Shield are handled directly by our partner, IMG.

Renters who purchase the shield will receive a confirmation email directly from IMG with their Membership ID once the booking is confirmed.
