Turo publishes no iCal feed, so syncing it to Wheelbase takes two pieces: a calendar connection keyed to the Turo vehicle ID, and an Outlook rule that forwards Turo's booking emails into your Wheelbase account. Both are required — the calendar connection alone will not pick up trips.
Before you start
- The email on your Turo account must match the email on your Wheelbase account. If they differ, change one before going further or the forwarded messages will not match to your account.
- You need the Turo Vehicle ID for each vehicle you want synced. It is the number at the end of the Turo listing URL.
- Repeat Step 1 motions (outlined below) for every vehicle. The email forwarding rule only needs to be set up once per mailbox.
- Build the Outlook rule in Outlook on the web (outlook.com or outlook.office.com), not the desktop app. Rules created on the web run on the server, so they fire whether or not your computer is on.
Step 1 — Connect the Turo calendar in Wheelbase
- In Wheelbase, open the vehicle and go to the Calendar section.
- Select Manage Calendars.
- For calendar type, choose Turo. Do not choose External ICS — that option expects a feed URL, which Turo does not provide.
- Enter the Turo Vehicle ID, the number at the end of the Turo listing URL, then click Add Calendar.
- At the bottom of the same pop-up, copy the forwarding address. It takes the form
<your-wheelbase-user-id>-turo@reply.outdoorsy.co.
The address ends in .co, not .com. Typing .com is the single most common reason this setup fails, and it fails silently — the rule saves and nothing ever arrives.
Step 2 — Forward Turo emails from Outlook
The published Wheelbase guide covers Gmail. These are the equivalent steps for Outlook.
- Sign in at outlook.com or outlook.office.com.
- Click the gear icon, then Settings → Mail → Rules.
- Click + Add new rule and name it something recognizable, such as "Turo → Wheelbase."
- Set the condition to From and enter
noreply@mail.turo.com. - Set the action to Forward to and paste the
...-turo@reply.outdoorsy.coaddress you copied in Step 1. - Leave Stop processing more rules unchecked, so your other rules still run.
- Click Save.
Unlike Gmail, Outlook does not send a verification email to the forwarding address, so there is no confirmation link to click. The rule is live as soon as it saves.
Outlook-specific gotchas
Two things behave differently in Outlook than in Gmail, and both produce a rule that looks correct but moves no mail.
Automatic external forwarding may be blocked. On a work or school Microsoft 365 account, administrators commonly disable automatic forwarding to outside domains through the outbound anti-spam policy. The rule saves normally and simply never delivers. If nothing arrives and the rule is enabled, this is the likely cause. Ask IT to allow forwarding to reply.outdoorsy.co, or use a personal Outlook.com address for the Turo account instead.
Desktop rules may be client-only. A rule built in the classic Outlook desktop app can be marked client-only, which means it runs only while that app is open on that computer. Building the rule in Outlook on the web avoids this entirely. If you already made one on the desktop, open Rules on the web and confirm it appears there.
Verify the setup
- Go back to Settings → Mail → Rules and confirm the rule is listed and its toggle is on.
- Confirm the Turo calendar shows in Wheelbase under Manage Calendars for that vehicle.
- Wait for the next Turo notification. Messages should reach the Wheelbase account within 24 hours.
Troubleshooting
| Symptom | Likely cause | Fix |
|---|---|---|
| Rule is on, nothing arrives | Forwarding address typed with .com
|
Edit the rule and correct it to .co
|
| Rule is on, nothing arrives, address is correct | Microsoft 365 outbound policy blocking external forwarding | Ask IT to allow reply.outdoorsy.co, or use a personal Outlook.com address |
| Forwards only when the computer is on | Client-only rule in the desktop app | Rebuild the rule in Outlook on the web |
| Emails forward but do not match the account | Turo and Wheelbase emails differ | Change one so both accounts use the same address |
| Calendar connects, no trips appear | Email forwarding not set up | Complete Step 2 — the calendar connection alone does not carry trips |
