Premium Services are optional add-ons you can enable for your fleet to enhance the guest experience, streamline your operations, and unlock additional revenue streams. Each service can be toggled on or off independently based on your business needs.
Prerequisites
- An active Wheelbase account with at least one vehicle listed
- Vehicles approved for insurance if enabling coverage-related services
- A TollSpot account if enabling Toll Management
How to Access Premium Services
From your Wheelbase dashboard, navigate to the left sidebar and select Premium Services. From here you can view all available services and choose which ones to enable for your operation.
1. Integrated Episodic Insurance
Wheelbase offers integrated episodic insurance through Roamly, allowing guests to purchase coverage at the time of booking — directly through your rental flow.
Why it matters: If you do not opt into episodic insurance, guests must provide their own coverage, and you are responsible for manually verifying that coverage. Additionally, ID verification (Axle) only activates when a trip has Wheelbase episodic coverage enabled — without it, identity verification will not occur automatically.
Setting Up Your Insurance Protection Package
To configure episodic insurance for your fleet:
- Navigate to Premium Services → Insurance Protection Packages
- Under coverage type, choose one of the following:
- Wheelbase Insurance — This enables the fully integrated Roamly episodic coverage. Recommended for most operators.
- Custom — Select this if you are using a separate or external coverage provider.
- Choose whether to allow guests to decline coverage. Enabling this option gives guests with their own insurance the ability to opt out of the Wheelbase package. If declined, you assume responsibility for verifying their personal policy.
- Select your fleet type — for standard vehicle rentals, select Auto.
- Select your default protection bundle — this is the coverage package guests will be enrolled in by default:
| Bundle | Description |
|---|---|
| Basic | Entry-level coverage for cost-conscious renters |
| Essential | Mid-tier coverage, most commonly selected |
| Peace of Mind | Comprehensive coverage with higher limits |
| Stationary | For vehicles that remain parked or are used in a non-driving capacity |

Insurance Premium Adjustment
Once insurance is configured, you can adjust the rate guests pay for coverage using a percentage markup or markdown:
- Add a premium (e.g., +10%) — The renter pays more for the package, and the additional margin goes to you.
- Reduce the price (e.g., -10%) — The renter pays less, and you cover the difference on their behalf. This can be used as an incentive to encourage guests to opt into coverage.

2. Affirm Financing
Affirm offers pay-as-you-go financing to your renters as an alternative to credit cards. When enabled, guests will see an option at checkout to pay for their rental in fixed monthly installments through Affirm's instant financing platform.
This is a simple toggle — on or off — with no additional configuration required on your end. Enabling Affirm can help reduce booking friction for guests who prefer flexible payment options.
3. Electronic Signature
Enable your renters to sign rental contracts electronically at the time of booking. Without this feature, you would need a separate method to collect signatures — such as pen and paper at pickup, a third-party tool like DocuSign, or emailing a PDF for manual signing.
Electronic Signature is a toggle on/off setting. When enabled, guests are prompted to review and sign your rental agreement as part of the checkout flow.
4. Toll Management
When enabled, Wheelbase registers your vehicles with TollSpot for automated toll tracking during each reservation period. Any tolls incurred during a trip are captured and can be passed on to the renter.
This is a toggle on/off setting. To use this service, you must first have an account with TollSpot. Once you enable the service in Wheelbase, you will receive a link to register your account with TollSpot directly.
Note: If you operate a mixed fleet that includes RVs, you may see additional services listed that are RV-specific. These do not apply to auto rentals and can be skipped.
5. Roadside Assistance
Offer your renters basic roadside assistance coverage powered by Coach-Net, a leading provider of roadside services in the vehicle rental industry.
Roadside Assistance is a toggle on/off setting and is priced as a per-day add-on for each reservation. When enabled, guests are covered for services such as towing, battery jump-starts, flat tire assistance, and lockout service for the duration of their trip.
6. Personal Insurance Verification (Axle)
When a guest opts out of Wheelbase episodic insurance and provides their own coverage, Axle can automatically verify their personal policy on your behalf for a $3.00 per verification fee.
This is a toggle on/off setting.
Important: Personal Insurance Verification via Axle only functions when Wheelbase episodic coverage is enabled on the reservation. If a guest's trip does not have Wheelbase insurance tied to it, Axle verification will not trigger. If you toggle this off, you are responsible for manually verifying the renter's insurance policy.
7. Roamly Rental Shield
Roamly Rental Shield is a standalone collision damage waiver (CDW) available for auto vehicle rentals valued under $50,000. It is designed as a lightweight coverage option for guests who want protection without a full episodic insurance package.
What's included:
- $0 deductible on vehicle damage
- 24/7 roadside assistance
- Emergency medical evacuation
What's not included:
- Third-party liability coverage — guests are responsible for their own liability exposure
